Description

The Welch Allyn Harvey DLX Triple Head is a full-range cardiology/pulmonary stethoscope with 28\ (71 cm) dual-lumen latex-free tubing and a rotatable triple-head brass chestpiece (low-frequency bell, adult flat diaphragm and pediatric corrugated diaphragm), designed to accentuate important cardiac, pulmonary and vascular sounds without relying on difficult variable-pressure techniques.

Usage

Select and attach appropriately sized soft or hard eartips to the binaurals; insert eartips into the ears pointing slightly forward to align with the ear canals.
Adjust the headset by gently squeezing or spreading the binaurals so that the stethoscope sits comfortably and forms an effective acoustic seal.
Rotate the triple-head chestpiece to select the desired side (bell, flat diaphragm, or corrugated diaphragm) indicated by the index marker.
Use the bell primarily for low- to medium-frequency heart sounds and murmurs; use the flat diaphragm for higher-frequency heart sounds and lung sounds; use the corrugated diaphragm for enhanced low-frequency gallops, rumbles and certain murmurs.
Place the active side of the chestpiece firmly on bare skin over the area to be examined (e.g., precordium, lung fields, arteries) and listen for characteristic sounds.
Avoid excessive pressure that can distort low-frequency sounds, especially when using the bell.
